What should I expect from the treatment?
The treatment can last between 30mins to 1 hr. Gemma will work beside the owner whilst they comfort & be with the animal supporting them. Gemma will then place her hands in non-invasive positions on or above the animal’s body, on a tank, housing or cage.
Not to worry if your pet does not like being close or touched by strangers or has emotional outbursts. A Seichim- Reiki treatment being energy can also be sent through time & distance such as through tanks, cages, across the room, garden, field or even being in different rooms/towns. Please contact me to discuss distant healing & pricing of distant healing (depends on how many treatments are to be sent). A photograph is also needed to be sent via email or post to ensure a stronger connection is made.
How do animals react during reiki?
Animals are selfless beings and connect to energy very easily. Reiki energy is calm, soothing, non-invasive and gentle, animals tend to open up to this energy easily and relax and calm, some even drift into a light or deep sleep. The owner is present to help comfort and calm the animals further, if the animal has experienced trauma in their lives then it can help them see a positive connection to humans and their owners but seeing nothing bad is going to happen to them reinstating trust.
Aftercare & Effects
Allow your animal to rest the remainder of the day, make sure your animal has immediate access to a toileting area as the reiki is cleansing the animal may have an urgent need to toilet straight after the therapy. Make sure they have instant access to plenty of water after the therapy also as this helps to flush out any toxins or blockages which the reiki may have shifted or broken down.
Some animals may show signs of sudden energy burst, a boost in appetite and relaxed deposition. As Seichim-Reiki is a cleansing and healing therapy some animals may experience a detoxing phase. This can last from hours to up to 3days. Do not panic if your animal seems quieter, stiff or not quite their selves after the therapy, the reiki continues after the treatment is over and can be clearing out toxins & blocks. Allow your animal quite time and provide lots of water to help them flush out any toxins, they should be back to their selves very shortly.
Can animals have reiki if they are on medication or medicated creams?
Yes Reiki is gentle energy that is passed in non invasive ways; it’s gentle and is not harmful, it is safe to have alongside medications and other therapies and does not interfere. It is advisable if you are unsure and with any illness and medications to always seek veterinary advice in conjunction to any complementary therapy and to always make your practitioner aware of them.
Where is the treatment given and can you travel?
With animals they usually prefer and it is less stressful if they are given the treatment in their own environments. I can travel to your home or where the animals are kept such as if the animal is in a sanctuary or zoo or rescue centre, kennels/cattery. If the animal is small and easily transported and is ok in being so, they can be brought up to my treatment room (the treatment room has limited space and can not accommodate large animals plus owner & practitioner, along with taking into account human clients allergies). I travel out around Lincolnshire and I have been out to places such as Hull/ Beverly & Doncaster. If outside of Grimsby an additional petrol travel payment is required 13p per mile.
