What to expect during a treatment
The client is laid down on the couch fully clothed; however access is needed for the tops of the shoulders and neck. Women may be asked to wear a strappy top; men can wear a vest or remove their top and cover with a secure towel from the treatment room.
The skin is cleansed by the practitioner and using gentle natural oils (containing no additives so avoiding allergic reactions) the shoulders neck and face are massaged using Japanese techniques, this is followed by acupressure stimulation along pressure points and energy pathways called Meridians, which carry energy (Ki) through our entire bodies.
The treatment ends with lymphatic drainage techniques which help remove toxins and wastes moved and unblocked by the Tsuboki. A 15min Seichim-Reiki can be added on to the end of this treatment.
After Care & Effects
As with any holistic treatment it is important to drink plenty of water afterwards to flush toxins and clear blockages, Gemma advises up to 2 pints.
Some people choose to leave the oils on the skin after the treatment for up to an hour to allow the skin to absorb them, this is your choice. It is important to rinse the face with cool water after this time to remove any toxins brought to the surface after stimulation from the treatment.
Rest your skin after the treatment try to refrain from putting anything on to the skin apart from medical treatment. Try to avoid cosmetics and allow your skin time to rebalance and cleanse.
Do not panic if your skin breaks out or skin ailments look worsened after the treatment. The body will be clearing and fixing itself and stimulated healing time can often look worse before its better. If symptoms are prolonged it is advised to always to seek medical advice, however they should clear up after a rest period 2-3days- 7days max.
In the pace of everyday life we often take our skin & face for granted. It can indicate to us how our inner health is and whether we are currently in balance or out of balance. An example of this is the skin, which is the largest organ in our bodies and is a major point of detoxing, that when stimulated can have various effects on us. Such as during exfoliation, washing, cleansing and massage can help us feel generally in better health, rejuvenated, cleanses toxins, and relieves symptoms of ill health, stress and heavy emotions / depression. It is important to support your skins health when finding balance in your life, health & wellbeing.
Tsuboki can have an effect on our whole bodies not just our face & neck. The meridian and acupressure points run from the top of our heads, to our finger tips, to our toes like inter twining connected rivers that carry Ki energy. Working on the head will have a counter effect on the lower part of the body and vice versa. The meridians link muscle to organ and vice versa so Tsuboki can also have a subtle affect on them to regain alignment and balance.
I suffer with eceama/ dry skin/ acne on my face will this be a problem?
No this should not be a problem, a brief consultation before hand for Gemma to see the affected areas will enable her to judge how to work with and around the problem. The tsuboki facial stimulates the skin, nerves, circulation, cells and meridians, therefore stimulating the affected areas natural healing action. It softens the skin, increasing the production of new skin cells and remove old skin gently and in some cases can reduce scarring by increasing circulation to the skin and softening the skin by balance the production of the skins natural oils. The treatment is gentle and relaxing and can help aid many skin ailments and symptoms. It is always advisable to consult a medical professional in conjunction to any complementary therapy and to always inform your pracitioner of the ailments and problemed areas.
